LAHAN — An elderly man died as a house collapsed during a violent storm here this morning. Saguni Mahato, 75, of Mirchaiya Municipality-10 died as a violent storm early this morning caused the house to fall, killing him on the bed.

Likewise, Shree Prasad Sardar, a mason of Kanchanrup Municipality-8 was injured after he was hit by a house pillar brought down by the sudden storm. Sardar was hired to construct a house at Sukhipur Municipality-9, Siraha. He is being treated at the local health clinic.

Likewise, in the aftermath of the storm, the east-west highway has remained blocked by the fallen trees. The storm has largely damaged the mango farming. It has caused huge loss to brick kilns by destroying unbaked bricks.

Thatched-houses and those with iron roofs are turned roofless by the storm which also toppled electric poles at various places, disrupting the telephone services.
