BHIMDATTANAGAR, KANCHANPUR — The 39th National Male and Female Badminton Championship is set to take place in Bhimdattanagr in Kanchanpur from January 16 to 20.

To be organised by the Kanchanpur District Badminton Association (KDBA) with financial support from the National Sports Council (NSC), the total 195 players from all the five development regions will participate, said the KDBA Chairperson Laxmi Datta Pandey.

Out of the total estimated cost of Rs 2.1 million for the tournament, the NSC will provide Rs 800,000, while the organisers will bear the remaining cost, he said.

The players will have to go through regional level selection in Dhangadhi, Kailali before passing the first phase of selection at district level.

Meanwhile, repair of the local covered hall, the venue for the competition, is underway, said Central Vice President of the Nepal Badminton Association Gobinda Swar. RSS
