NEW DELHI, INDIA (ANI) — Noted author Amitav Ghosh has been conferred with the 54th Jnanpith Award.
A prominent contemporary Indian writer, Ghosh is known for his works like ‘The Hungry Tide’, ‘Shadow Lines’, ‘The Glass Palace’, and ‘River of Smoke’, to name a few.
A Padma Shri awardee, Ghosh, in his novels, is known for twining historical settings to the modern era, and through his books, envisages a space where one can connect the past with the present.
An elated Ghosh took to Twitter earlier on Friday to thank his well-wishers and the jury for conferring him with the coveted accolade.
“This is an amazing day for me. I never thought I would find myself on this list, with some of the writers I most admire,” he tweeted. (ANI)
