DHAKA, BANGLADESH — Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given permission to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the opposition of the govt, for holding a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka on Sunday. Press wing officer of BNP Chairperson, Shamsuddin Didar, confirmed the matter to Kathmandu Tribune.

A two-member representative team of BNP went to the Police Commissioner’s office at around 11 am on Saturday to get the permission of the rally.

Meanwhile, at a press conference in the noon at the party central office at Nayapaltan BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that DMP gave the permission for holding a rally under 22 conditions.

He said, “We are allowed to hold the rally from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.,”. We hope that Sunday’s rally will be a successful rally. Important leaders will deliver speeches in the rally. Guidelines will be given in the rally on BNP’s relation with Jatiya Oikya Prokriya over the movement demanding election time nonpartisan government.

Earlier on Tuesday at a press conference, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that BNP’s rally will be held on 29th September (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Suhrawardy Udyan. He also said that they were hopeful of getting permission.
