Coffee shop businesses have been a booming business in Kathmandu recently. Every street, every galli has a coffee shop to explore, and fairly most of them have a good ambiance for your casual gatherings and dates. The Cup of Joy differs from your casual coffee shop, I like this place. Unlike the corporate coffee shop businesses, this place is smaller and has a homely atmosphere. It has a slow-paced atmosphere with the walls and cranny filled with aesthetically pleasing art and satisfying freshly brewed coffee.

The shop is run is by Garima Shrestha and Suraj Subedi who have the warmest smile as they welcome you. It isn’t the best for a full meal but the perfect place to sit with friends, drink some tea or coffee and get some snacks. The small shoebox—shaped café and sanctum from the crowd is a true Elysian of hospitality. You know it’s worth returning to the moment you enter it. You find solace from the bustling city.

The menu is found on the tiles behind the bar and it is also given on the front of the shop, which helps the customers know the prices and what they are paying for. They do however have a printed menu on the tables too. They also have some unique drinks that might not be available at your regular coffee shop. The menu has quite a decent selection of offerings: hot and cold. The choice of food is also impressive as it offers both sweet and salty selections. It caters to the expectations you might have from your coffee shop.

They also have a guitar, which the customers can play if they want to. Sometimes you even find a small group of local guitarists fill the small place with music.

If this wasn’t enough for you, then the best part about the café is the cute brown Pomeranian that they have, which is only 3 months old right now. Meet the loveable Coco!

Located a little inside a gully of Bhimsengola, Old Baneshwar, the coffee shop is not that hard to locate. It’s small, but it’s worth searching for.

Cup of joy is the perfect place for you!
