KATHMANDU –Siam Sarower Jamil, Kathmandu Tribune Bangla’s Dhaka correspondent who went missing on Thursday, has been rescued with injuries.

According to Bdnews24.com, two locals found him beside the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Savar’s Ashulia on the outskirts of Dhaka on Friday evening.

Siam is admitted to Dhamrai Upazila Complex.

Salauddin Mia, the OC of Tejgaon Police Station, said the police heard about his rescue from the family, but it was unclear how he had been injured.

Jamil’s wife Sharmin Sultana filed a general diary at the police station saying he had gone missing after visiting his sister’s home in West Nakhalpara of the capital. He was unreachable on his mobile phone.

The couple live at BTCL Colony in Banani.

A senior correspondent of the Kathmandu Tribune’s Dhaka Bureau, Jamil had worked at Bangladesh’s RTV.

Hours before going missing, Jamil wrote in a Facebook post: “The world is very beautiful. So are the people. Peace be upon all. Be well.

He is also a member of Dhaka Journalists Forum (DSF). Siam, who was involved in leftist politics, was once the president of the Dhaka District Youth Union.

He could not be found after leaving his elder sister’s house in the capital’s West Nakhal Para on Thursday morning. The mobile phone was off.

Sharjeen Sharif, sub-editor of Jago News, said Siam’s wife called him in the evening and told him that Siam had been found in Ashulia. He requested to be contacted by a phone number. Later, Sharjeen called that number and found out that Siam had been found. He is in Nabinagar. A person who rescued Siam told him that Siam was walking handcuffed on the road in a village on the Dhaka-Aricha highway. Seeing the pedestrians, he asked them to untie their hands. At that time he could not walk well. The pedestrian untied his hand and took it to a nearby shop to feed him. A local journalist then took him to the hospital.

There are signs of injuries on various parts of Siam’s body. He can’t speak well. How he got there could not be ascertained.
