A self-made millennial real estate investor, Harun Nawzadi, says philanthropy was a value instilled in him from a very young age and it is a value that he will carry for the rest of his life.

Harun who comes from Afghan heritage and currently resides in the United States loves to help and give back to his local communities and to communities back home. He currently works with many different organizations and international foundations to help immigrant families that have come to the U.S. and need living assistance and various families in Afghanistan that need financial support. Harun quotes “I am a hardcore philanthropist and always seek for ways to give back to my local communities and to communities back home in Afghanistan. Since 2019 I have personally sponsored 10 families in Afghanistan whom I help support financially. My goal as an entrepreneur isn’t to build wealth for myself only. The bigger goal is to help those around me and help humanity in any way I can.”

Although his philanthropic efforts reach all the way to Afghanistan, Harun currently doesn’t have the financial capacity to start and fund his own foundation. He mentions this is his overarching goal and there are many different plans he has for the communities in Afghanistan. “My dream and my goal restart my own foundation and to build schools in Afghanistan through it. I believe the only way to fix a war-torn country is by educating the youth, both male and female. I want to see an Afghanistan where there are as many women as men in the schools and in the workforce. Diminishing this segregation between men and women always starts with better education and instilling better values into children from a young age”.

Harun believes these philanthropic values are a necessity for everyone to have and encourages those around him to support his mission or start their own charitable efforts. “It hurts to see so many people around me, especially those who come from more privileged families that don’t give back. A lot of people either don’t care or make the excuse of them not having enough to give. Trust me if you have food in your fridge, a roof over your head, and a lightbulb in your ceiling, you are more privileged than 60% of the world. Remember, every dollar counts”.
