One Ring to Rule Them All: Know About World’s First Smart Condom, iCon that Tracks Your Performance in Bedroom!!

The generation we’re living in now is indeed a smart generation and technology has taken over everything from smartphones to practical quantum computers and now something we never thought was possible: a smart condom!

The world of sex has always been analog and slightly conventional — condoms, sex toys, vibrators, and bizarre genital weightlifting devices, but worry not, the future of sex is finally here.

A company in the UK, British Condoms has developed a revolutionary condom, called i-Con, capable of measuring the sexual abilities of men along with detection of possible Sexually Transmitted Infections.

ICon Smart Condom which is not actually a condom but a condom ring is a Fitbit, a fitness tracker for your penis. It is worn over the condoms, that rests at the base of the penis. You might be wondering why wear it anyways? Well, the fact that it measures the best of your performances in bed is enough to make you give it a try.

The iCon evaluates the number of calories burnt, duration of intercourse, measures girth, number and speeds of thrust, along with the velocity of intercourse, and different positions used every week, month or year. The company has also claimed that it helps to detect STIs which on a serious note, is medically important and convenient. The science behind this smart condom is the use of nano-chips and sensors in the ring that collects all the data during the sexual intercourse. Users of this device will be able to access this data through iCon app, paired the device via Bluetooth.

The product is all set to be launched in the market later this year, and costs £59.99 ($80.82) and over 90,000 people have already pre-ordered this sex machine.

Some of the prominent features of i-Con Smart Condom include:

  • Average skin temperature
  • Girth measurement
  • Speed of thrusts
  • Average velocity of thrusts
  • Calories burnt per intercourse
  • Frequency of sessions
  • Total duration of sessions
  • Different position used
  • Average velocity of thrusts
  • Detection of STIs

The company which was founded in 1999 is the largest online supplier of condoms in the UK and the idea of smart condom came some three years ago and they started working on the project since 2016. Adam Leverson, the lead engineers of the iCon states,

“Not only have we innovated the world’s first smart condom ring – that’ll measure pretty much every aspect of performance in the bedroom – but now I’m pleased to confirm that it will also have built-in indicators to alert the to any potential STIs present.”

Also, have the option to share their metric with friends and public and it is reusable, with one year guarantee. However, the new updates report that the smart condom does not provide any protection against pregnancy hence are encouraged to wear a condom with the device.

With the advent of this new technology, controversies regarding its misuse are on the rise. Many experts think that turning sex into the commercial product would lower the importance of intimacy in human life. The statistics turn sex into the sport and the one thing that is natural and beautiful will ultimately turn into competition and bragging.

Hence, these technological advancements always leave us with a conundrum-Is this the future we really want in our sex world? Will it ruin sex for everyone?
