Christina E. Petrides

So many songs lament a single sleeper in a double bed
and fail to celebrate the bliss of rest
in such uncluttered space.
There, abundant pillows nestle in your arms
and cup your weary head.
You can snuggle unreservedly
into the comforter’s embrace.
It and other linen need not be shared,
but piled high or flung aside at will.
Each night you luxuriate in a great bear-sized nest,
and mornings you may linger happily tucked in.

An American expatriate, Christina E. Petrides lives and works on Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. More than a score of her poems have appeared in various periodicals over the last two years. Her first children’s book, Blueberry Man, was published in 2020 by Tchaikovsky Family Books.
