Christina E. Petrides

I swing out again over the river,
arcing high and weightless
above the smooth rocks and green pools
that spin beneath my crossed feet.
My braid flies behind me
and my hands hold tight to the rope
creaking across the solid branch.
Too soon, I drop back
towards the knotted bank
and the shoe-scuffed slope
where my sister waits her turn.

An American expatriate, Christina E. Petrides lives and works on Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. More than a score of her poems have appeared in various periodicals over the last two years. Her first children’s book, Blueberry Man, was published in 2020 by Tchaikovsky Family Books.
