Even if they still haven’t been selected for the World Cup (yet), we can, and must, give credit to the National Nepalese Woman Football Team for their strong spirit and the positive message these athletes send, to every woman and girl out there still afraid to join the “manly world” of sports.

The captain of the Team, Anu Lama, is without any doubt its most popular figure. She is the one who will carry her team to hire submits with the help of coach Hari Khadka. The 33 international goals scored in her name, is a great hint on her capacities.

If this wasn’t enough to prove her strength and determination, she is also a member of the armed police force. So be careful outlaws, she sure knows how to aim.

The Trail Runner and Sky Runner superstar were chosen in 2017 to be National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year!

Growing up poorly in a remote village of Bohjpur District, her younger self would often have to climb up and down mountains to fetch simple but vital products such as water and food. It was as if destiny was getting her trained, for the grand future plans she was drawn to follow.

And it was a call of Faith. Because it was only by accident, or in that case, pure luck, that she ended up on the starting line of the 50km Himalayan Run. The surprised amateur was not expecting that turn of events. She thought she was invited for a friendly training and ended up joining the side of highly trained athletes. Even then, with no proper gear, no supplies, she still ended up winning the race. Suddenly, she got the attention of the international sports community. Since that day, her new sponsorships made her fly and run across the World, doing what she loves the most.

During these last four years, she has won 14 races(plus four silver medals, one bronze) in countries far from her own. Such as France, where she settled a new record awaiting since 2015 to be beaten, on the highest mountain of Europe: The Mont Blanc. And more recently, it was on the sharp sidelines of Scotland’s Ben Nevis, that she solidified her legend, by setting a jaw-dropping new time record.
