KATHMANDU — An aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines en route to Kathmandu from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, caught a fire while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 2:40 pm today.

Efforts were underway to rescue the injured passengers. TIA Spokesperson Premnath Thakur said that Nepal Army, Nepal Police and firefighters from TIA itself and from Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan Cities have been deployed to put out the fire.

An eye witness said that the aircraft was burning before its landing on the runway. Further details about the incident are awaited. It is yet to be confirmed that how many passengers were on board the plane. Those passengers rescued from the site have been rushed to nearby hospitals, it is learnt.
