Saina Poddar, one of the Investment Banker, turned Blogger cum Influencer, is gradually gaining popularity amongst the community, it is nothing new for the investment bankers to cater to their hobbies; however, Saina’s case is unique. We spent an evening with Saina to know about her journey, success story, and future plans.
1) How did you enter into the world of influencer marketing?
“It all started as a hobby and I don’t know when I have become a part of the mainstream business; probably, my hard work, research about the products, attention to details helped me to gain popularity. You need to take a balanced approach and that is the key.”
2) How do you find time to do such detailed research in your busy schedule?
“Mostly during the weekends; and it is said that, if there is a will, there is a way. Also, an analytical mind is always alert about its surroundings, which helps.”
3) Since now you are successful in this field, why not taking this as a full-time career?
“Unfortunately, though Influencer marketing gained popularity, Influencers have not attained that height, both in terms of fame and earnings; hence, I chose to take a middle path. In a nutshell, it sounds cool to be an Influencer, but your paycheque will not be that cool.”
4) Any plans of getting into acting or modeling?
“No, I was a model during my college days, so modeling is history and talking about acting, I believe I am a terrible actor; I look better with a flat face. Also, I won’t be able to fit into a character of a typical Indian woman, so don’t even want to try that. These days there are different types of characters I see in many webseries, I wish these opportunities were there before. Now I have moved ahead in my life, not fit to adopt anything new.”
5) As you chose to stick to social media only, there also comes a risk; influencers are mostly termed as hobbyists, any thoughts on that?
“I will not completely deny, this sector is still unorganized; hence fragmented, and lack of seriousness is also an issue.”
6) Any suggestions for the newbies into the Influencer community?
“Just be honest to your audience, create meaningful content and do a good amount of research before creating any content; it really helps.”
