India is Nepal’s southern neighbor and the relationship with it since 1947 has been topsy-Indiaturvy. A democratic country in name, India, suffers from various issues. India is a nuclear state and likely to be a powerhouse of Asia in coming days. However, its neocolonial approach to Nepal and its neighbors have been criticized from all frontiers.

India and Nepal’s relations recently have gone sour. It can be attributed to primarily India’s ‘micromanaging of Nepal’ approach and the failure of Nepali politicians to let India dictate them. The 2015 blockade by India is still fresh in the memory of common Nepalis.
